It should be no surprise that cold weather is harsh on your skin. Believe it or not, cold weather is just as damaging as the sun can be! It’s important to protect your skin and update your skincare routine to prevent skin damage. This winter, skip the dry skin and chapped lips! Here’s our go-to guide to protect your skin this winter.
Cleansing: If you have acne you may want to scrub your face every chance you get. It is important to only wash your face when needed during the winter season. Too much washing, especially if using a strong cleanser, can dry skin out and cause chapping and chaffing to occur faster than normal. Use a gentle cleanser during the winter, especially if your skin is sensitive.
Moisturize: This is an obvious solution during the winter. Moisturize, moisturize and moisturize! You don’t have to leave your face greasy but you definitely don’t want to skip out on applying that goodness to your precious skin.
Sunscreen: Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean sunburns and sun damage disappear. Buy a moisturizer that has an SPF of 20 or more. If you like your products separate that’s okay too! Whatever you do make sure you are protecting your skin so that it’s defense is strong enough to fight off all the harsh weather.
Serum: If you don’t already use a Face or Eye serum before bed, Winter is the perfect time to start. Having dry and chapped or chafed skin can accelerate the aging process. Whether younger or older, it’s never too early or too late to use a firming serum or anti-aging serum. Slather that baby on at night, your skin will soak it up and be glowing come morning!
Water: Drink as much water as you can. Your skin responds quickly to hydration and equally as quick to dehydration. Don’t let your skin get the short end of the stick because you aren’t consuming your fluids. Not only does water help skin look firm and hydrated but it will help with your skin color.
You may underestimate how important it is to take care of your skin, but believe us when we tell you – IT’S IMPORTANT! Whether you decide to follow our exact regimen or decide on a unique plan on your own, protect your skin year round. How do you protect your skin in the winter months? Leave your comments below!
