As a busy mom, the last thing you think about is your beauty routine in the morning. You cook, clean, and still have just enough time for a bedtime story. However, when it comes to taking time for yourself, there’s none left. You are too busy. But if you don’t take care of yourself, how much longer can you expect can you take care of everyone else in your life? You may not be able to fit a spa day in your busy schedule, but by taking 15-20 minutes out of your day, you can treat it just like a regular appointment. Here are some ideas you can start using in your daily routine, using items you may already have your home!
Honey
Honey is great in tea, can cure a sore throat, and can even help allergies. Not only is honey a power food, it’s also a great product for your skin! It can help reduce fade scars, reduce puffiness under your eyes and give you an all-over glow. If you suffer from acne, apply a thin layer of honey onto damp skin. Leave it on for 25-30 minutes and rinse with warm water. You can also use this method to improve dark circles under your eyes, although results may take longer to show. Honey can also be a great make-up remover when mixed when coconut oil! Massage the mixture over your face and it will loosen any foundation that is still on. This also doubles as a great moisturizer!
Olive Oil
Olive oil is wonderful for so many things, but it has so many uses for our skin and nails. For cracked heels, exfoliate and apply olive oil to the affected area. Make sure to put on socks after to lock in hydration. It’s best to do this at night when your feet will be able to rest. You can also use olive oil for your lips! Mix crushed brown sugar, olive oil, and just a bit of lemon juice to create a lip scrub, and apply this like chap stick! For your nails, submerge both hands in a bowl of room temperature olive oil for 5-10 minutes. Do this once or twice a week, and you’ll notice a major difference in the strength of your nails.
Avocado
Another super food, avocados are not only rich in vitamins, and have so many moisturizing benefits! Avocados can be used for the skin and hair, and the whole avocado can be used. Don’t like using a pumice stone? No worries – exfoliate using the inside peel of an avocado and kiss your dry skin goodbye. If you’re starting to stress about those wrinkles, just mash an avocado and some lemon juice, let it sit for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. If your scalp needs some moisture, mix an egg yolk and a mashed avocado and apply the mixture to your scalp.
Being a mom is a hard job, and you deserve the time off. Your beauty routine shouldn’t suffer because you think your family needs you more than you need yourself. Remember that spending extra time taking care of yourself isn’t something to feel guilty about, but is 100% necessary. No matter how busy your family’s schedule is, it’s important that you make time to keep yourself happy, too! Pampering yourself at home is easier than ever, treat yourself!
