If you live somewhere in the south, you might have a loose definition of “winter”. However if you’re experiencing a true north winter, you might realize you need to change more than just your foundation shade. We’ve rounded up our best tips and tricks to keep your skin healthy this winter season.
Cover Up
When you’re out and about during the winter, try to cover your delicate skin whenever you can! That includes wearing gloves, scarves, and earmuffs! Your skin is thin in these delicate areas and causes moisture loss a lot quicker.
Hydrate!
You’ve heard it before and you’re about to hear it again. Drinking water may not solve all of your problems, but it will solve a lot of them revolving around your skin and hair! Try to drink as much water as you can. It will help you keep your skin hydrated in the harsh winter temps!
Change Your Moisturizer
The dryness of winter is really harsh on your skin, which leads to dryness and causes your skin to become flaky. To avoid this, try to moisturize at least twice daily. But make sure you switch up your moisturizers as the seasons change! For the winter, try a moisture-rich moisturizer.
Exfoliate Often
Flaky skin is a winter staple, isn’t it!? But it doesn’t have to be! If you exfoliate your skin regularly, you’ll shed your dry dead skin and give allow your skin to drink up more moisture.
Stay Active
Again, something you’ve probably heard before and will hear again! Being active is one of the best things you can do for your mind, body, and soul. But it’s especially important when trying to keep your skin healthy during the winter. Go to the gym, do some yoga at home, or go for a quick run!
Take Less Hot Showers
As good as hot showers feel, they’re terrible for both our skin and our hair. Especially in the winter! Try to trade in some of those warm showers for warm baths instead. Your skin will retain more moisture and are a great way to practice self-care, too!
