There’s nothing quite like the relaxation you feel in a warm bath, some lavender candles and your favorite playlist playing in the background. Whenever I find the time for some much-needed self-care, I absolutely take it. I’ve recently discovered the hype behind bath bombs, and now I can’t take a bath without one. However, they can get pretty pricey and if you take a bath a few times a week, and it adds up pretty quick. So I set out to find a recipe for DIY bath bombs that I can make at home, and I’m so happy to have found one. These are great for gifts or to use at home for yourself. Here’s how to get started on your favorite DIY bath bombs!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup citric acid
- 1 cup baking soda
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ½ cup melted coconut oil
- 8-10 drops of essential oils
- Silicone molds or paper cupcake liners
- Food coloring
Directions:
- In a medium-size bowl, mix together the citric acid, baking soda, and cornstarch, and set aside.
- If you’re using food coloring, now would be the time to add it to the dry ingredients. Start with just a few drops, and work up to the color intensity you’d like. The best method for mixing is by hand, instead of using any utensils.
- In a separate bowl, combine your oils. While stirring, gradually add these to the bowl of dry ingredients. Make sure to gradually add your fragrance mixture to your dry ingredients. If you pour too quickly, the liquid will create a reaction with the citric acid.
- Next, use your hands to knead everything together inside of the bowl until your ingredients start to clump together. The result should feel almost like damp sand!
- Then scoop the mixture into whichever mold you’re using, and pack it down tight. A silicone mold works best. The back of a spoon works perfectly to press your mixture in place!
- Finally, let your bath bombs dry for at least 24 hours, and they’ll be ready to go!
That’s all you need to enjoy a wonderful handmade bath bomb at home! You can customize your bath bombs with different fragrances, colors, or even glitter! That includes essential oils, perfumes, or a mixture of colors. What are some of your favorite combos for DIY bath bombs? Leave your comments below!
