On average, how many boxes, plastic bottles and other recyclables do you dispose of each week? While their intended use is over, it doesn’t mean they still can’t be functional! Look at these three ways to turn your trash into toys!
1. Stair Slide
If you’ve got sizable cardboard lying around (think refrigerator-sized boxes), flatten them out, and turn your staircase into a slide! Secure the cardboard with duct tape on the railings of your staircase. Be sure to add cushions/pillows at the bottom to ensure a soft landing! Slide away!
2. Water Wall
Gather all of your family’s water bottles and cut holes at the bottom to continue the water flow. Have your child place and secure the water bottles on your fence, or sturdy vertical surface. Have the tallest child (or parent) then pour a bucket of water at the top and watch it trickle down! If you want to take it a step further, you can use this as a way to water your plants! Instead of having the water fall to the ground, place a few plants at the bottom!
3. Pirate Ship
Plastic bins are a great idea for storage, but what about as a homemade pirate ship! Since these are completely plain, your child has the liberty to decorate the outside and inside however he or she wants! Add a sail, seats for passengers, and even a place to secure their gold!
