Since the school year has already started, I’ve already experienced a lot of frustration and resistance from my kiddos when it comes to schoolwork, chores, and just about everything in between. I’ve tried bribing them, begging them, and just about everything that I could think of, but it’s almost like they’ve started to check out already. But as parents, we truly are our kiddos biggest cheerleaders. So instead of letting my frustration grow, I set out to find better ways to motivate my kiddos when nothing else seems to work. So if you’re looking for some new strategies, you’re in luck. We’ve rounded up some of our most successful ways to motivate your kiddos!
Set Goals
Make sure you set goals and expectations for them. Nothing is more frustrating for your kiddos than not understanding what you’re asking of them. Make sure to have conversations with them regarding your expectations and see what goals they want to set for themselves, too!
Remain Postive
Remember that progress is rarely perfect. So if your kiddos are still struggling or not seeming to respond to what you’re trying to teach them, remain positive and keep trying. The time and effort you’re investing will pay off!
Celebrate Them
And make sure you do celebrate your kiddos accomplishments! Small or large, this is a great way to motivate your kiddos to keep pushing forward.
Make Things Competitive
If your kiddos have close siblings, cousins, or even friends, having a friendly competition is a great way to boost motivation! This is a great time to teach your kiddos about competition and remaining positive.
