There is something that is always mesmerizing about snow. Whether it’s looking outside of your window or playing with a childhood favorite – DIY snow globes! DIY snow globes are a perfect way to spend time with your family and create a little Christmas magic in your living room. The possibilities are endless and you can create your perfect winter scene from pure imagination! The best part is you can use almost any jar for this project. From an old food jar in your pantry or a mason jar, you can buy your container at any retail store. Here’s how to get started!
- Glass Jar
- Evergreen Tips
- Oil-based Paint
- Distilled Water
- If you want to add some holiday spirit to the jar lids, paint with oil-based enamel paint. First, sand the inside of the lid until the surface is rough. Then, with clear-drying epoxy, adhere a figurine to the inside of the lid and let the epoxy dry.
- Next, fill the jar almost to the top with distilled water. Then, add a pinch of glitter and some glycerin to keep the glitter from falling too quickly. Add as little or as much glitter as you want! Keep in mind this doesn’t have to be followed to a T, let your kids design to their heart’s content.
- When adding the epoxy, make sure you don’t add too much or the glitter will clump at the bottom of the jar when it’s flipped over.
- Finally, screw the lid on tightly and be careful not to damage the figurine. Once you have the lid screwed on, turn the jar over. And voila, it’s snowing!
And in just four simple steps, you’ve got yourself a pretty DIY snow globe! These make great gifts for your little ones to give to other family members, crafts for movie nights, or even after-school activities. What are some of your favorite DIY Christmas crafts? Leave your comments below!
