Hair Care 101: 5 Tips for Moms Always On The Go

As a busy mom, wife, or entrepreneur, you might not have a lot of time for hair care. Time is a luxury and adding anything into your hectic schedule has to be easy, simple, and efficient. However, there’s no doubt how much of a difference our hair makes, especially when it comes to confidence. It’s nearly impossible to make your hair a priority, especially if your schedule isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Luckily, there are a few things you can do throughout the day that promotes healthy hair and doesn’t take hours to do! Here are some of our top tips for healthy and beautiful hair.

Hydrate

Okay, you’ve heard it all of your life – drink water. But seriously, proper water intake is so much more important than you probably know. It can help promote weight loss, improve your complexion and skin conditions, and help your hair grow long and strong! You read that right, drinking water is a basic part of hair care. Not only does it keep your hair hydrated, it helps prevent breakage and reduce damage. So grab a few extra bottles of water in the morning, and even if you’re not thirsty, make sure you are always hydrated!

Wash Your Hair Less

Overwashing your hair causes a lot of problems. For optimal shine, your hair should be able to produce natural oils starting at your roots and flowing through your tips. When you wash your hair too much, it becomes extremely brittle and dry. If you can wait to wash your hair every other day, or don’t mind waiting 4 days, it’ll make a huge difference. Depending on your hair type this may not be an option. If you have really thick or coarse hair, you might have trouble waiting an extra day or two to wash your hair. Don’t ever underestimate the power of dry shampoo! It’s a great substitute for a wash when you need to wait a day or so.

Rinse With Cold Water

Okay, so no one’s first thought jumping out of bed is to run into a cold, miserable shower. If you can endure a freezing cold shower for the sake of hair care, more power to ya! However, if you love scalding hot water, there are other options for you, too. Warm water opens up your hair cuticles and does allow the shampoo to cleanse your scalp and roots. However, cold water allows your cuticle to close and lock in that much-needed moisture. Instead of taking a cold shower, just lower the water temp at the very end of your shower, rinse, and you’re good to go!

Overnight Deep Conditioning

You don’t have to schedule an afternoon at the salon to fit hair care into your busy schedule. Deep conditioning is super important for so many reasons. It makes your hair grow faster, gives your hair so much body and shine, and helps repair damage. If you love deep conditioning treatments but don’t have time for the salon, you can do a treatment at home! You can use a deep conditioning treatment, or use your favorite conditioner. Make sure you go light on your roots, to avoid excessive oil. Apply conditioner from root to tip and wrap your hair in a hair cap or towel. Leave it in for an hour, or you can leave it in overnight!

Frizzy or damaged hair can seem impossible to deal with. Hair care is super important for every woman’s routine and shouldn’t be ignored. However, that doesn’t mean you have to spend hours or tons of money to have a good hair day. By following these tips, you’ll notice a difference in your hair in just a few months.
