If you’re anything like me, you promised to be more dedicated to your fitness routine this year. Whether that’s yoga, lifting weights or just taking the dogs on a walk more often, I wanted to spend more time focusing on myself this year. I guess I didn’t realize 2019 didn’t bring a few hours in every day and I’d have to get creative with time management. If you’re having difficulty fitting in an exercise routine in your schedule, we’ve got some tips to find some extra time in your day. Here are our top tips to rocking your fitness routine this year!
Short & Sweet
A quick but good workout is absolutely better than being miserable for an hour. Try HIIT workouts or signing up for a class. You’ll see a total difference in the gym!
The Earlier, The Better
If you can wake up a little earlier and pack in some yoga or a quick trip to the gym, you’ll be glad you did. This will 100% make a huge difference in your day and you don’t have to be dreading your workout scheduled later in the day.
Be Prepared
If you do decide to kick-start your day the next morning, pack a bag the night before. Think about everything and anything you might need. Water, snacks, clothes, and shoes. You’ll be ready to go first thing in the morning and start your day stress-free!
Multitask
Instead of creating extra time, try to multitask. A great way to do this is to use your time watching TV, movies, or even cooking dinner to get an extra workout in. Instead of making the trip to the gym, do a few sit-ups during commercial breaks, while your food is cooking or any other free time you have. You won’t feel overwhelmed and feel like you’re still accomplishing a workout!
Switch it Up
If you live nearby a gym, park, or have a flexible schedule, try switching it up! If you can walk somewhere, do it! If you can take the stairs instead of the elevator, do it! Try to think of fun ways to make your workout seem less uniform and switch it up when you can.
Make it Fun
Get a group of friends that are dedicated to working out and hold each other accountable. Whether it’s morning walks, taking a class, or just motivating each other, it’ll change the way you workout.
Treat Yourself
Okay, I know this sounds crazy. But a big part of having a successful fitness routine is knowing when you need a break. Listen to your body and skip a workout if that’s really what you need. Eat that extra piece of chocolate, skip the salad or order the fries. Making your hard work worth it every once in a while is okay!
Stick to a Routine
This one will take more time, but stick with your routine and it will become a habit. Once it’s a habit, you won’t even have to think about it. You won’t care how tired you are or how sore you feel, you’ll want to get that workout in. Just keep pushing and stick with it!
Being dedicated to your exercise routine doesn’t have to be a night and day difference. With a few simple adjustments to your normal life, you’ll be exercising every day before you know it. What are some of your favorite fitness routine tips? Let us know in the comments below!
