Honey is used in my kitchen almost every day. Whether it’s to sweeten up my tea, used in a dessert recipe, or indulging in a spoonful, I use it all of the time. So when I finally figured out that honey can be used in my beauty routine, I was all over it. I love finding natural ways to treat my hair and skin, especially when it actually works! Honey is the perfect addition to any beauty routine if you’re looking for beautiful hair and that warm, glowy skin. Here are some ways to implement honey into your beauty routine!
Face
Dry Lips: If you’re looking for a great lip exfoliant, look no further. Just apply a thin layer of honey to your lips before hitting the hay! You’ll wake up to soft and smooth lips that feel completely moisturized.
Acne: Believe it or not, honey contains tons of antibacterial and antifungal properties. If you suffer from acne, use a cotton swab to dab honey on any zits or imperfections and leave it on overnight. When you wake up in the morning any blemishes should be dried out!
Glowing Skin: My skin has never been naturally luminescent and I’m always searching for products to brighten up my face. You can make a mixture of one part honey and two parts aloe vera, and apply to your face before bedtime. Aloe vera is a miracle product, too!
Scars: Over time, scars become more and more prominent on our faces. Honey can lighten up your skin and take care of those scars in no time. Apply a little bit of honey to any affected areas and cover with a band-aid overnight. For the best results, repeat daily.
Blackheads: In order to get rid of those pesky blackheads, apply a mixture of honey and lemon to your face. You’ll need to mix a tsp of honey and 1/2 tsp of lemon juice. Just apply it to your t-zone and rinse in the morning!
Hair
Split Ends: Split ends seem impossible to avoid. No matter how many deep conditioning treatments I do, my hair can never withstand the heat treatments I use. But with a little bit of olive oil and a tsp of honey, you can kiss those split ends goodbye! Apply the mixture to the ends of your hair and leave-in overnight. Wash as usual the next morning!
Lightning: If you’re looking to lighten up your hair without all the damage of bleach, honey can help with that, too! Mix one tbsp of honey with six tbsp of chamomile tea. Apply this mixture to your hair and cover your hair with a shower cap. Leave overnight and rinse in the morning.
Taking care of your hair and skin can be so daunting sometimes. There are so many different products out there and it can be hard to tell which actually work and which don’t. Natural products are always my go-to and I’ll take a natural remedy over an expensive store-bought product any day! What are some of your favorite uses for honey in your beauty routine?
