With the year at an end – comes celebrations, quality time with friends and family. It’s a time that inevitably makes me reflect on the past year and think about new passions and ambitions for the New Year coming up. I thought I’d share with you some things that I feel we could all do for 2015 to enhance our own personal power and enhance the quality of our life.
Love: One of the things I love about the holidays the most is how happy and filled with love everyone is. Most people are in such a state of love and enjoyment that strangers greet one another on the streets while smiling – I had it happen and did it myself frequently this year! Not only that, but families and friends make a point of telling one another how much they mean to each other. Why limit these small, meaningful pleasures to only once a year? I say, love often and love much this year. Greet strangers, show random acts of kindness, and tell those close to you what they mean as often as you can.
Laugh: They say that laughter can cure anything – a broken heart, an awkward situation, and also boost your immune system – to name a few. Let’s make sure each of us enjoy life to its fullest! When’s the last time you REALLY laughed? When did you last laugh until you cried? Leave room in your life each day to be silly and laugh with those around you – each day will be a little better because you did!
Learn something new: There are so many beautiful things that the world has to offer! So many hobbies, trades, sports, arts, entertainment, languages, cultures, and much more. Make a point to learn at least one new thing this year. Pick something that inspires you and run with it! Let’s stop saying, “I’d like to do this someday”…there is no better time than the present!
Embrace yourself: We all have the tendency to be tough on ourselves. Instead of looking to others for “perfection” – embrace the beauty of you! Embrace your body, your style, your personality, your quirks, your soul, and your mind.
Be more eco friendly: We all talk, see, and read about the vast beauty of our planet. Let’s help sustain this beautiful planet we live on. Use eco friendly products, clothing, and transportation – and for those of you that want to take it a step further – try a vegan lifestyle. I highly recommend, Johnathan Safran Foer’s book, “eating animals”. It was a book I read in the past month that changed the way I look and feel about food. I’m now healthier, and more eco friendly because of it.
Take time to play: I sometimes find that as adults we tend to take life to seriously – and what for? It’s time to break free of the dull and boring and take time to play every day! Leave room in your life each day to be silly! Take a cue from any kids that may surround your life – we have something to learn about “being in the moment” from them.
No matter where you are and what your goals are for this year – I wish you all the utmost love, laughter, style and success for 2015!
