Being happy moms is hard work. It is easy to want to break down and give up after drowning in busy schedules and responsibility. Taking on the role of a mother is stressful, and although that little warming smile from your child is contagious, there will be hard times and moments where you just need time away. Here are 7 tips to being a successful mom!
1. Try to Laugh
There will be times when you are rushing out of the house, but have to change your baby’s diaper and take care of your kids’ belongings and do this and that. You are going to want to break down and maybe even cry! But in situations like these, you just have to learn to laugh. Laugh at the diaper you have to change because in a few years, you will be laughing at all of the crazy stuff you had to do when your kids were younger. Laughing is contagious and your whole family will feel the benefits from your sense of humor in stressful situations.
2. Think About Yourself
At the end of the day, you need to find time for yourself– even if it is just a half hour! Find something you love and do it every day. Read a book or watch your favorite Netflix show, take a Zumba class! Find something that is your own, that makes you happy.
3. GNO
No one can understand you as much as your girlfriends. Leave the kids with your husband and have a night out with the girls. It is so valuable to get away from the family for a little bit to relax and enjoy yourself with your friends.
4. Know When You Need Help
Your kids think you can solve or do anything- so you may think you have to live up to their standards and become invincible. This is not true. You can’t solve every problem and you will need help along the way. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your mom or a friend because they will understand.
5. Say No When You Need To
When your kids are asking you millions of questions, while your friend is asking for help with her kids, and your mom is asking you to bring a side dish for your family dinner- it is okay to say no! Don’t over-schedule yourself. Know your limits and when your responsibilities and tasks become too much to handle.
With these 5 tips, you will be able to build a healthier and happier home. Being happy moms can be stressful, but balancing family and your own personal preferences is what is most important. keeping yourself positive and having a sense of humor will be invaluable to your daily life and that of your family.
