Morning routines are an absolute life-saver for me and my household. They keep us sane, on-time and helps me hold my kiddos accountable, too. The days without a morning routine used to look like me running out of the house with one shoe on and my shirt buttoned backward! So when our family started to grow, I knew a morning routine was non-negotiable. But like our daily lives, our routines tend to change from season to season. So if you’re thinking about creating a morning routine you can stick to, we’ve rounded up the 5 questions to ask yourself to create a consistent morning routine.
What has to be done in the morning?
Thinking about everything that your mornings need to tackle, write out a list of EVERYTHING that needs to get done! From waking up to heading out of the door, make a list and roughly estimate how much time each thing will take to get done.
How long will breakfast take?
In our house, breakfast is absolutely essential to starting our day. No matter how busy we are, breakfast is a priority before heading out for a long day. So if it’s something that’s important to you too, make sure you allocate enough time for it!
What time do you have to be out of the door and ready to go?
Most importantly, you have to set a goal in mind! Think about when you have to be out of the house – no excuses. You might want to factor in traffic, buckling up, and getting your morning playlist ready.
How long does it take you to get ready?
For this one, you need to think about every element of you getting ready. From brushing your teeth to putting on your shoes, make sure you don’t leave anything out!
How long will it take the rest of the family to get ready?
Most importantly, don’t forget your kiddos routines for getting ready, too!
When you have everything figured out, add it all up and figure out what time you need to wake up to be out of the house on time. What are some of your favorite ways to nail down a consistent morning routine? Let us know in the comments below!
