One of my favorite days of the entire year is planner day. I love taking those blank pages and filling them with my plans for the year. But it’s so easy to get lost and confused when setting up your planner. Where do you even start? A little intention goes a long way! If you set a little time aside to organize your planner the right way, you’ll be set for the rest of the year. Here are some of our top tips to remember when setting up your new planner!
Important Dates
First things first, make sure you add everything important! That includes doctors appointments and parent-teacher conferences. And if you have a large family, make sure you include their dates in your planner too! I always try to write out categories such as medical, school, finances, and vacations and try to jot down things that go under those categories. It helps me make sure I don’t forget anything and am prepared when these dates come up!
Seasonal Planning
This is a great time to get ahead of the holiday chaos, quarterly goals, school projects – you name it! The holidays always seem to sneak up on us but we actually really don’t have much of an excuse because they come at the same time every year! You can jot down reminders when holiday deadlines are approaching and give yourself time to prepare early.
Home Keeping Tasks
If you like to be really organized, go ahead and add your home keeping tasks, too! This can include weekly or monthly cleaning checklists, chores, home inspections, anything! This is a great time to organize your home life and make sure you make it a priority. This is a great time to schedule spring cleaning and de-cluttering too!
Personal Goals
Finally, make sure you write down anything related to your personal goals. If you haven’t done so already, make sure you plan out some personal goals! Big or small, make sure to make an effort to put them into action by giving yourself some timelines and planning out the little details. It will hold you accountable and stay fresh in your mind by doing so!
