Self-care is an essential part of our lives. At least it should be! Right? I know you’ve heard it before and you might agree how important it is… but if you can barely make time for dinner how can you afford a spa day? The good news is that self-care doesn’t have to be complicated, expensive, or make you feel full of guilt. We’ve got some great self-care tips that will help you squeeze a little bit of time out of your busy schedule and get you the R&R you so need!
Understand What Self-Care Means to You
Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing and you don’t have to break the bank just to feel good about yourself. Think about things that you enjoy doing and that make you feel good about yourself. It can be as simple as getting ready kiddo-free or going to the spa or getting a little retail therapy. There’s no wrong answer!
Take It Seriously
Make your self-care schedule a goal and treat that goal like you do anything else. Dedicate as much effort and time to your self-care as you do to getting the kiddos to school on time, sticking to your diet, or budgeting your money! If you take it seriously, it will be easier to find the time in your already busy schedule.
Track Your Progress
Develop a system that lets you track your progress. Maybe that means writing it out in a planner and seeing if you’re dedicating as much time to yourself as you need. Set a goal of 30 minutes a week or 1 hour a day and hold yourself accountable. It may be a little bumpy at first but you’ll get the hang of it before you know it!
Self-care seems like a luxury but it really isn’t. You can’t be the best wife, mom, friend, or co-worker if you don’t give yourself a little R&R when you need it. Listen to your body and your soul when you start to feel unlike your usual self. What are some of your favorite self-care tips? Let us know in the comments below!
